River City Physical Therapy - About Us

River City Physical Therapy was established in 1995 with one fundamental, predominant theme- to provide the most professional, medically sound therapeutic care In Post Falls and Coeur d’Alene possible. That underlying theme is the foundation of our service today, and will always be the core of our excellent patient care.

River City Physical Therapy’s mission statement describes not only our commitment to excellence, but our understanding that each patient requires, indeed deserves, individual consideration and treatment, never losing sight of their comfort and needs in that process. We believe that the best patient care must be evidence based, and we strive to continually update our care methods consistent with the updates in the medical community.

Our endeavor is good health, and to that end, we promote, and encourage health practices that we trust will always be of value to our patients, as well as the community at large. To that end, we are proud to be a part of the local communities, with the privilege of serving Physical Therapy in Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls as well as the surrounding area. We appreciate that opportunity profoundly, and strive never to lose sight of our "Commitment to Excellence."

Brett Johnson - P.T., M.S.P.T., P.R.C.

"We work with patients, not on them."

Having been a physical therapist since 1997, my journey has been driven by a strong desire for teaching patients and seeing them succeed. My background includes advanced training in manual therapy, therapeutic neuroscience, and Postural Restoration. Even with a box full of tools, therapy can only be effective when acknowledging every patient is different and responds in their own unique way. Thus the most powerful therapy is based on communication, teamwork, and fun. Yes, therapy should be fun. We work hard to take the "pain and torture" out of the physical therapy vocabulary and focus on making you feel better.

In my free time, I enjoy time with my wonderful wife and son. We enjoy all the adventures the great northwest has to offer such as mountain biking, boating, and skiing.

  • Bachelor of Science - Northern Arizona University
  • Masters of Science in Physical Therapy - Central Michigan University
  • Manual therapy training through the North American Institute of Manual Therapy
  • Functional Strength training through the Gray Institute
  • Postural Restoration Certified through the Postural Restoration Institute

Ben Wardell - P.T., D.P.T., CrossFit Level 1 Trainer

I was able to join the River City Physical Therapy team in September of 2016. Here I have been able to develop and grow in my relationship with Christ, as a therapist, and as a husband to my wife Sarah.

Growing up in a small town in South Dakota my parents taught me the importance of respect, hard work, and listening. Athletics were a big part of my life growing up. I was a three sport athlete in high school and played 5 seasons of division 2 college football at the University of Augustana. I graduated from the University Of Jamestown, North Dakota with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

Keeping the energy high, having patients involved and engaged in the treatment, and getting excited about results are my goals. I strive to get people where they want to be by using functional exercise, hands on techniques and provide them with the education and knowledge to better themselves.

I am currently working towards my orthopedic and manual therapy certification to further my learning career.

My interests include Crossfit, fly fishing, hunting, snowboarding and backpacking. I also enjoy spending time with my lovely wife Sarah as we explore everything the Northwest has to offer.

  • Bachelor of Arts - University of Augustana 2011
  • Doctorate of Physical Therapy - University of Jamestown 2016

Caitie joined River City Physical Therapy in April 2017. Born and raised in Post Falls, I’m truly excited to be back in “Idahome”. I attended the University of Idaho and received my BS of Exercise Science and Health in 2007. Upon graduating with my BS, I attended George Fox University to complete my Doctorate of Physical Therapy. Prior to beginning with RCPT, I worked as a home health physical therapist in Kootenai County and as an outpatient physical therapist in Tigard, OR. My clinical interests include fall prevention, orthopedics and sports. I have a strong yoga and Pilates background that I utilize along with manual therapy techniques and exercise to restore function and reduce pain. My husband and I, along with our fur babies, love exploring all Kootenai county has to offer. We are avid hikers, cyclists, ski, and can be found on the water with our dogs during the summer. There’s no better place to be than Coeur d’ Alene, where the mountains, rivers and lake all meet.

From there, she attended Eastern Washington University, where she received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy.

Erin enjoys working with all patient populations, though as a former Division I gymnast and track athlete, she has a special place in her heart for pediatric orthopedics and rehabilitation. Prior to joining RCPT, she feels blessed to have had the opportunity to grow professionally and learn from Seattle Children’s Hospital Sports Medicine physical therapy team. She utilizes this knowledge in combination with manual techniques to restore function and help people return to the activities they love.

In her free time, you will find Erin and her husband enjoying the outdoors and exploring the beautiful place we all call home. Together, they love backpacking, cycling, rock climbing, snowshoeing, skiing, and being on the water.
